ABOUT

Born in 1961 in Logan, Utah, Winston Haycock’s style evolved from the early 1980’s through the late 1990’s as he playfully created several thousand two hour plus works in front of fascinated audiences on the sidewalks of Seattle. He became renowned as a true, natural colorist (“painting is nothing more than drawing with color”), and it was that renown which launched the dozens of commissions that mark his busy career. Winston’s compositions place smiling nostalgic characters in landscapes that evoke glowing picture books and are still being made while he continues experimenting with a vast array of materials. His many, diverse mixed media painting series are the way he finds balance in the work that he calls an ongoing “experiment in the daily process of surprise.”  Winston is currently developing his newest ideas into a children’s book while living in his artist studio in Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market with his wife and cat .
